The Morton Arboretum is a living museum with 9 miles of paved roads and many walking trails. The arboretum may be viewed by car, on foot or by bicycle. In the winter, cross country skiing and snow shoe hiking are permitted (snow shoe rental is available). Its collection of trees and plants come from around the globe. The arboretum has a children's garden with activites and structures for exploration. The visitor center contains a restaurant and gift shop and the Arboretum hosts many events and activities from art classes and lectures on plant life to popular concerts. There is also a library on site. The arboretum is open 365 days a year from 7 a.m. until sunset. Admission is $8 - $11, depending on age, with discounts on Wednesdays and free admission through the Reciprocal Admission Program, and for Arboretum Members.
